| Results, testimonials and “specialist” claims | Marked D: we haven’t checked this state’s own text on results, testimonials and specialist claims, so the ABA Model Rule default applies until we do. In practice: results only if truthful and given in context; “certified specialist” only through an approved body that the ad names. ABA Model Rule 7.2 and its comments | D ABA model default |
| Referral services and lead generators | Marked D: the ABA Model Rule default applies until we check the state’s text. Lawyers may pay reasonable advertising costs and a qualified referral service’s usual charges, never for a recommendation; lead generators are allowed only if they don’t recommend the lawyer, imply a recommendation or split fees. ABA Model Rule 7.2 and its comments | D ABA model default |
| Ads in Spanish and other languages | No state rule on ads in other languages found in the sources reviewed. Our default applies: every required statement appears in each language the ad uses. CAMG white paper: Alaska lawyer advertising rules | D ABA model default |
| Call-recording consent | One-party consent: a person on the call may record it. Recording laws by state, 2026 guide | S Secondary source |
| Texting and telemarketing law | No state texting or telemarketing law with private suits found in the 2026 trackers. The federal TCPA applies; state no-call lists and registration may still apply, but callbacks to people who asked to be contacted are generally outside them. State mini-TCPA tracker, July 2026 · 47 CFR 64.1200, the federal TCPA rules | D ABA model default |
| Privacy and health-data law | No comprehensive consumer privacy law in force. State privacy law comparison chart, updated October 8, 2026 | S Secondary source |
How we checked each rule
- P Primary source
- We read the rule, statute, court order, bar page or regulator page itself.
- S Secondary source
- A summary or quotation of the rule by a legal-marketing firm, law firm or tracker. We check it against the official text before relying on it for a client.
- D ABA model default
- The state’s own text isn’t checked yet, so the ABA Model Rule or our national default applies until it is.
- U Open question
- Unknown or unsettled; a lawyer must answer it.
Alaska is the only state where Native languages outrank Spanish at home: 3.6% of residents age 5 and older speak a Native North American language, against 3.1% for Spanish, with Tagalog close behind. Its lawyer-advertising rules are short, by our secondary source: no filing, a name and office address in each ad, and no waiting period found. Most claims and referral rules haven’t been checked against Alaska’s own text yet, so the ABA model fills in.
Not legal advice. We built this page from secondary summaries and ABA defaults, not yet from Alaska’s own rule text. Have counsel confirm each rule before you act on it.
Alaska rules in plain English
Each rule shows its verification code: P for a primary source we read, S for a secondary summary, D for the ABA-model default (what the codes mean).
Filing, required content and timing
No filing. Each ad gives the lawyer’s or firm’s name and office address. No waiting period was found.

What rests on the ABA model
Three rules are marked D: results and specialist claims, payments to lead sources, and ads in other languages. Until we check Alaska’s text, a results claim needs its context, “certified specialist” needs a named certifier, and lead sources may sell advertising but not a recommendation or a share of fees (ABA Model Rule 7.2). Any ad in Tagalog or another language carries its required statements in that language.
Recording, texting and privacy
One-party recording (S · recording guide); no state texting law with private suits in the 2026 trackers (D · tracker); and no comprehensive privacy law (S · comparison chart).

What this means for your SEO and ads in Alaska
Two metros, a lot of distance
Anchorage and Fairbanks-College are Alaska’s only metro areas, and together they hold about two in three Alaskans. Much of the state lives far from either, so a firm’s Google Business Profile, its service-area settings and its phone intake carry more weight than city pages. List the communities the firm actually serves, and be ready for callers who can’t come to an office.
Address in every ad
Name and office address is the rule. In search ads, the firm name fits a pinned headline and the address fits the first description; we add the responsible lawyer’s name as well.
Languages
Tagalog speakers (2.5% of residents) report limited English at 39.4%, so a Tagalog-speaking intake contact can matter for an Anchorage firm. Ilocano, Samoan and other Austronesian languages add 1.2%.
Low competition, careful measurement
Alaska has 297 employer law firms (Census, 2022), so search competition is thin and a few signed cases move the numbers. We report every channel’s signed cases, but won’t show a cost per case until a cut has at least five, because smaller counts mislead.
