| Results, testimonials and “specialist” claims | Marked D: we haven’t checked this state’s own text on results, testimonials and specialist claims, so the ABA Model Rule default applies until we do. In practice: results only if truthful and given in context; “certified specialist” only through an approved body that the ad names. ABA Model Rule 7.2 and its comments | D ABA model default |
| Referral services and lead generators | Marked D: the ABA Model Rule default applies until we check the state’s text. Lawyers may pay reasonable advertising costs and a qualified referral service’s usual charges, never for a recommendation; lead generators are allowed only if they don’t recommend the lawyer, imply a recommendation or split fees. ABA Model Rule 7.2 and its comments | D ABA model default |
| Ads in Spanish and other languages | No state rule on ads in other languages found in the sources reviewed. Our default applies: every required statement appears in each language the ad uses. CAMG white paper: Kansas lawyer advertising rules | D ABA model default |

| Texting and telemarketing law | No state texting or telemarketing law with private suits found in the 2026 trackers. The federal TCPA applies; state no-call lists and registration may still apply, but callbacks to people who asked to be contacted are generally outside them. How we checked each rule
- P Primary source
- We read the rule, statute, court order, bar page or regulator page itself.
- S Secondary source
- A summary or quotation of the rule by a legal-marketing firm, law firm or tracker. We check it against the official text before relying on it for a client.
- D ABA model default
- The state’s own text isn’t checked yet, so the ABA Model Rule or our national default applies until it is.
- U Open question
- Unknown or unsettled; a lawyer must answer it.
Kansas asks one thing of a lawyer ad, by our secondary source: the name of a responsible lawyer. There’s no filing and no waiting period found. The rules that shape Kansas campaigns come from elsewhere: a 2022 law on drug and device lawsuit ads, and a Kansas City market shared with Missouri, where every ad carries a set sentence.
Not legal advice. Treat this Kansas summary as a checklist for your counsel, not an answer: it rests on secondary sources and defaults.
Kansas rules in plain English
Each rule shows its verification code: P for a primary source we read, S for a secondary summary, D for the ABA-model default (what the codes mean).
Filing, naming and timing
No filing; a responsible lawyer named in each ad; no waiting period found.
Verification: S · CAMG white paper: Kansas
Drug and device lawsuit ads
SB 150 (2022) requires a paid-advertisement statement and a prescription-drug warning, bars medical-alert and false-recall framing, and bars soliciting with health information without written authorization.
Verification: S · SB 150 supplemental note
Defaults
Claims, referral payments and non-English ads are D: a Kansas firm states results in context, names any certifier behind “certified specialist”, pays vendors for advertising and not recommendations (ABA Model Rule 7.2), and writes required statements into each ad’s language.
Recording, texting and privacy
One-party recording (S · guide); no texting law with private suits (D · tracker); no comprehensive privacy law (S · chart).

What this means for your SEO and ads in Kansas
Kansas City is a two-state market
The Kansas City metro is more than three times the size of Wichita’s, and it straddles the state line. A Johnson County or Wyandotte County firm aiming at the whole metro reaches Missouri, where every ad must carry “The choice of a lawyer is an important decision and should not be based solely upon advertisements.” (Missouri). Joplin and St. Joseph are shared with Missouri too. Either target by presence in Kansas or put the Missouri sentence into every metro-wide ad.
Wichita and Topeka
Wichita, the largest metro wholly in Kansas, has an 8.8% Spanish share, above the state’s 8.4%. Topeka, Manhattan and Lawrence are small, separate markets where the Business Profile and city pages do most of the work.
Mass-tort campaigns
We don’t run drug or device lawsuit campaigns. A firm that does needs SB 150’s statements in the ad and on the page, forms that collect no health details, and written authorization before using any health information.
Vietnamese intake
Vietnamese is Kansas’s most common language after English and Spanish, and 63.4% of its speakers report limited English, one of the highest shares we see for any language in any state.
