Results, testimonials and “specialist” claims Marked D: we haven’t checked this state’s own text on results, testimonials and specialist claims, so the ABA Model Rule default applies until we do. Referral services and lead generators Marked D: the ABA Model Rule default applies until we check the state’s text. How we checked each rule

P Primary source
We read the rule, statute, court order, bar page or regulator page itself.
S Secondary source
A summary or quotation of the rule by a legal-marketing firm, law firm or tracker. We check it against the official text before relying on it for a client.
D ABA model default
The state’s own text isn’t checked yet, so the ABA Model Rule or our national default applies until it is.
U Open question
Unknown or unsettled; a lawyer must answer it.

Mississippi is one of four states where a lawyer ad is filed before it runs. Each ad goes to The Mississippi Bar before first use, for $25, or $150 if late. The Bar exempts ads limited to basic information and web pages that people reach through their own searches, which makes organic SEO the one channel with no filing step. Whether Mississippi sets a waiting period for injury contact is still an open question.

Not legal advice. The filing rule comes from The Mississippi Bar’s own page; the rest is secondary or open. Confirm each point with the Bar and your counsel.

What this means for your SEO and ads in Mississippi

SEO moves without a filing

Practice pages, city pages and articles that people find through their own searches are exempt. Paid search, social, display and video ads are not, so each new version is submitted before it runs.

Plan paid ads ahead

With pre-use filing, a new ad can’t go live the day it’s written. We prepare each submission when the attorney approves the version, and the ad waits until it’s filed. For TV and evergreen video, the $50 advisory opinion 45 days ahead is worth considering.

Office city in pinned text

The office city and state go in the ad itself: a pinned headline or the first description in search ads.

Memphis reaches north Mississippi

DeSoto County and its neighbors sit in the Memphis metro, centered in Tennessee, which sets a 30-day waiting period and regulates drug-lawsuit ads (Tennessee). A Memphis-wide campaign reaches Arkansas too. Jackson and Gulfport-Biloxi are the largest metros wholly in Mississippi.

Languages

Spanish speakers are 2.9% of residents. Vietnamese is next, at 0.19%, and 51.5% of its speakers report limited English, so a firm serving Vietnamese-speaking clients needs intake that can answer them.
