Results, testimonials and “specialist” claims Marked D: we haven’t checked this state’s own text on results, testimonials and specialist claims, so the ABA Model Rule default applies until we do. In practice: results only if truthful and given in context; “certified specialist” only through an approved body that the ad names. ABA Model Rule 7.2 and its comments D ABA model default
Referral services and lead generators Marked D: the ABA Model Rule default applies until we check the state’s text. Lawyers may pay reasonable advertising costs and a qualified referral service’s usual charges, never for a recommendation; lead generators are allowed only if they don’t recommend the lawyer, imply a recommendation or split fees. How we checked each rule

P Primary source
We read the rule, statute, court order, bar page or regulator page itself.
S Secondary source
A summary or quotation of the rule by a legal-marketing firm, law firm or tracker. We check it against the official text before relying on it for a client.
D ABA model default
The state’s own text isn’t checked yet, so the ABA Model Rule or our national default applies until it is.
U Open question
Unknown or unsettled; a lawyer must answer it.

Wyoming is the least populous state, with two metro areas, Cheyenne and Casper, that together hold about three in ten residents. Its ad rules, by our secondary source, are the national minimum: no filing, a name and office address, and no waiting period found. Six of its nine cells are secondary-sourced and three rest on the ABA default, so a Wyoming firm’s counsel confirms them before we rely on them.

Not legal advice. Treat this Wyoming summary as a checklist for your counsel, not an answer: it rests on secondary sources and defaults.

Wyoming rules in plain English

Each rule shows its verification code: P for a primary source we read, S for a secondary summary, D for the ABA-model default (what the codes mean).

Filing and the basics

No filing; name and office address; no waiting period found.

Verification: S · CAMG white paper: Wyoming

The ABA defaults

Claims, referral payments and non-English ads are D. A Wyoming firm states results with their facts, uses “certified specialist” only with a named certifier, and pays vendors for advertising, never for a recommendation or a cut of fees (ABA Model Rule 7.2). Any ad in Spanish carries its required statements in Spanish.

Recording, texting and privacy

One-party recording (S · guide); no texting law with private suits (D · tracker); no comprehensive privacy law (S · chart).

What this means for your SEO and ads in Wyoming

Most clients live outside the metros

With seven in ten residents outside Cheyenne and Casper, a firm’s reach depends on its Business Profile, service-area settings, and phone intake that works for callers hours from an office. Practice pages should name the towns and counties the firm serves.

Statewide search, small numbers

Search volume is spread thin across the state, so statewide campaigns with presence targeting can make more sense than city-by-city ones. With small case counts, we report every signed case but show costs only for cuts with five or more.

Neighbors

Wyoming’s metros don’t cross state lines, but a statewide campaign borders six states. Presence targeting keeps ads to people in Wyoming unless the firm’s lawyers serve a neighbor too.

Languages

Spanish speakers are 4.3% of residents. German and Native North American languages follow, and nearly all their speakers speak English “very well”.
