When a bar, a court or a legislature changes a lawyer advertising rule, it shows up here. We check the official source behind every rule in our library each day, confirm the change by hand, and update the library.
No confirmed changes yet. The first one we confirm will appear here and in the feed.
Follow it in a feed reader: the Rule Watch RSS feed. The full rules are in the library of advertising rules by state.
Every official source our library cites for each state and DC, such as the professional conduct rules and bar opinions, plus the opinion lists that some bar associations post. We follow each site’s robots.txt file, read slowly, and never log in or submit anything.
A source counts as changed when its wording is different on two daily checks in a row, so a rotating banner or a page redesign is not a rule change. Probative Growth then reads the source and decides whether a rule really changed. Only real rule changes are listed here.
We aim to update the library within five business days of a confirmed change, with a dated note on the state’s page and a new version of the downloadable dataset. If we got something wrong, we correct it the same way and say so.
No. Probative is a marketing firm, not a law firm. Rule Watch tells you that a rule changed and where to read it. Before you rely on a rule, read the source and ask your own counsel or your state bar’s ethics hotline.
