Results, testimonials and “specialist” claims Marked D: we haven’t checked this state’s own text on results, testimonials and specialist claims, so the ABA Model Rule default applies until we do. In practice: results only if truthful and given in context; “certified specialist” only through an approved body that the ad names. ABA Model Rule 7.2 and its comments D ABA model default
Referral services and lead generators Marked D: the ABA Model Rule default applies until we check the state’s text. Lawyers may pay reasonable advertising costs and a qualified referral service’s usual charges, never for a recommendation; lead generators are allowed only if they don’t recommend the lawyer, imply a recommendation or split fees. ABA Model Rule 7.2 and its comments D ABA model default
Ads in Spanish and other languages No state rule on ads in other languages found in the sources reviewed. Our default applies: every required statement appears in each language the ad uses. CAMG white paper: Idaho lawyer advertising rules D ABA model default

How we checked each rule

P Primary source
We read the rule, statute, court order, bar page or regulator page itself.
S Secondary source
A summary or quotation of the rule by a legal-marketing firm, law firm or tracker. We check it against the official text before relying on it for a client.
D ABA model default
The state’s own text isn’t checked yet, so the ABA Model Rule or our national default applies until it is.
U Open question
Unknown or unsettled; a lawyer must answer it.

Idaho’s ad rules, by our secondary source, are close to the minimum: no filing, two years of records, a name and office address in each ad, and no waiting period found. The state’s market is concentrated in Boise, but its Spanish speakers aren’t: the Twin Falls metro, in the Magic Valley, has nearly twice Boise’s Spanish share.

Not legal advice. Most of what follows is secondhand or defaulted for Idaho. Read it as a planning aid, and ask counsel before relying on any point.

Idaho rules in plain English

Each rule shows its verification code: P for a primary source we read, S for a secondary summary, D for the ABA-model default (what the codes mean).

Filing and records

No filing; copies kept 2 years.

Verification: S · CAMG white paper: Idaho

Content and timing

Name and office address in each ad; no waiting period found.

Defaults

Claims, referral payments and non-English ads are D. Until Idaho’s text is checked, the ABA model’s limits apply: results in context, a named certifier for “certified specialist”, and no payment for recommendations or fee splits (ABA Model Rule 7.2). A Spanish ad carries its required statements in Spanish.

Recording, texting and privacy

One-party recording (S · guide); no state texting law with private suits (D · tracker); no comprehensive privacy law (S · chart).

What this means for your SEO and ads in Idaho

Boise first, then the valleys

Boise City holds about 42% of Idahoans. Coeur d’Alene, Idaho Falls, Twin Falls and Pocatello are separate markets, each small enough that a well-built Business Profile and a few strong practice pages can carry most of the local search work.

Spanish where it is

Twin Falls (15.9%) and Idaho Falls (8.6%) have Spanish shares at or above Boise’s 8.4%. About 35% of Idaho’s Spanish speakers report limited English, lower than the national 41%, so bilingual intake may matter more than separate Spanish campaigns in some areas. Test before building.

Logan crosses into Utah

The Logan metro is centered in Utah. A southeast Idaho firm reaching it should check Utah’s rules, which since 2020 have no explicit naming clause (Utah).

Records

Two years of ad copies is the rule; our archive keeps every version and approval for 4.
