Results, testimonials and “specialist” claims Marked D: we haven’t checked this state’s own text on results, testimonials and specialist claims, so the ABA Model Rule default applies until we do. In practice: results only if truthful and given in context; “certified specialist” only through an approved body that the ad names. ABA Model Rule 7.2 and its comments D ABA model default
Referral services and lead generators Marked D: the ABA Model Rule default applies until we check the state’s text. Lawyers may pay reasonable advertising costs and a qualified referral service’s usual charges, never for a recommendation; lead generators are allowed only if they don’t recommend the lawyer, imply a recommendation or split fees. How we checked each rule

P Primary source
We read the rule, statute, court order, bar page or regulator page itself.
S Secondary source
A summary or quotation of the rule by a legal-marketing firm, law firm or tracker. We check it against the official text before relying on it for a client.
D ABA model default
The state’s own text isn’t checked yet, so the ABA Model Rule or our national default applies until it is.
U Open question
Unknown or unsettled; a lawyer must answer it.

Nebraska’s ad rules, by our secondary source, ask for a name and office address and nothing else: no filing and no waiting period found. Its privacy law works differently from most: like Texas’s, it turns on whether a business is an SBA small business, not on how many consumers it tracks. And its Spanish speakers report limited English at 49.1%, one of the highest shares in the country.

Not legal advice. Nebraska’s entries here come from secondary sources and the ABA model. The state’s highest court sets the rules; your lawyer should check each one.

Nebraska rules in plain English

Each rule shows its verification code: P for a primary source we read, S for a secondary summary, D for the ABA-model default (what the codes mean).

The basic rules

No filing; name and office address in each ad; no waiting period found.

Verification: S · CAMG white paper: Nebraska

Defaults

Claims, referral payments and non-English ads are D. A Nebraska ad gives results their context, claims “certified specialist” only with a named certifier, pays vendors for advertising and never for a recommendation (ABA Model Rule 7.2), and states its required words in Spanish when written in Spanish.

Recording, texting and privacy

One-party recording (S · guide); no texting law with private suits (D · tracker); the Nebraska Data Privacy Act (2025), which applies to businesses that aren’t SBA small businesses (S · chart).

What this means for your SEO and ads in Nebraska

Spanish intake comes first

About 9.3% of Nebraskans speak Spanish at home, and nearly half report limited English. In Grand Island the Spanish share is about one in five, and in Sioux City about one in seven. A Spanish ad that reaches an English-only line wastes the click; staff intake before launching Spanish campaigns.

Omaha spans the river

The Omaha metro takes in western Iowa, which has a consumer-count privacy law of its own (Iowa). Sioux City is shared with Iowa and South Dakota, where testimonials carry a set statement (South Dakota).

Other languages

Vietnamese (0.41%) and “other languages of Asia” (0.37%) both have limited-English shares above 54%, and Arabic speakers are 0.36% of residents.

Size-based privacy

Under the SBA test, many small firms fall outside the act. Texas’s similar law still makes small businesses get consent before selling sensitive data, so ask counsel whether Nebraska’s does the same, and never sell or share intake data, whatever the firm’s size.

Questions firms ask

Do Nebraska lawyers have to file their ads?
No filing, by the secondary source we use.
Does Nebraska’s privacy law apply to law firms?
The Nebraska Data Privacy Act (2025) applies to businesses that aren’t SBA small businesses, like Texas’s law, rather than counting consumers. Many firms fall under the SBA size line, but check with counsel.
Is Nebraska a one-party consent state?
Yes, by the 2026 guide we use.
Is there a Nebraska waiting period before contacting accident victims?
We found none. We never do targeted outreach to injured people.
