Local Services Ads: what kind of leads arrive and what gets charged

What is measuredPublished figure
Phone-call leads95–100%
Leads the advertiser was charged for80–85%
Leads credited back after a dispute5–10%
Values are rounded and protected as the methods page describes. A band or tier is approximate, plus or minus one step. How each is measured.

What does this mean for your firm?

  • Answer every call, fast. A Local Services Ads program is a phone program, and a missed lead is usually still charged.
  • Dispute the leads that do not fit, and keep a short note on why. Credits come back only when you ask.
  • Count signed clients from Local Services Ads, not leads. A charged lead is not a client.

How do I read this table?

Each row is a share of all Local Services Ads leads, shown as a five-point band, with injury and employment ads combined. The downloadable file also holds the share of message leads. Every value is aggregated across many observations, and rows that did not meet the privacy rules are suppressed for privacy.

The figures are bands, so treat each as approximate. How the benchmarks are made and protected.

Questions firms ask

Are most Local Services Ads leads phone calls?

Yes. Nearly all Local Services Ads leads for law firms arrive as phone calls, and messages are a small share. That makes answering the phone the main job of a Local Services Ads program.

Can a law firm get credits for bad Local Services Ads leads?

Yes. A lead that does not fit, such as a wrong case type, can be disputed, and some are credited back. The table above gives the share of all leads that were credited.

Step 2 of 2. Where should we send the video for your site?

We use this to send your video and to reply to you.

We use what you send to reply and to send a few short follow-up emails (unsubscribe any time). To learn which of our ads work, we tell Google, Microsoft and Meta that a request came in, with the ad you clicked (if any) and a hashed copy of your email and phone (a code the platforms can still match to you), never your message. Never sold, never added to lists. Global Privacy Control or an email to us turns this off. By sending this form you agree to our privacy policy.
