Demand: what courts and agencies count

Counts of filings, crashes, complaints and enforcement in the records each agency keeps. A count shows where problems were recorded, not how many people will hire a lawyer.

Ad rules that apply

The rules a law firm's ads in Arizona have to meet, summarized from the official texts. The full rules, with quotes, are on the state page.

TopicStatusWhat it says
Ad filing or reviewP
primary source
No filing or pre-approval of ads is required. The State Bar says it does not have to review ads first, though a voluntary review is available. Keeping copies is not required but is called a good idea. ERs 7.1-7.5 contain no filing clause.
official source · rules v1.4.0 doi:10.5281/zenodo.23750572 · checked 2026-10-28
Required contentP
primary source
Any communication about a lawyer's services must include the name and contact information of at least one lawyer or law firm responsible for its content (ER 7.1(c)). Contact information can be an address, website, phone number or email.
official source · rules v1.4.0 doi:10.5281/zenodo.23750572 · checked 2026-10-28
Waiting periods for contactP
primary source
The rules set no waiting period. ER 7.3 bans live person-to-person solicitation for pay, with exceptions, and does not bar mail or email. A statute makes unlawful solicitation of a tort victim at the scene of an accident a class 1 misdemeanor (A.R.S. 13-2924).
official source · rules v1.4.0 doi:10.5281/zenodo.23750572 · checked 2026-10-28
Claims and resultsP
primary source
A lawyer may not make a false or misleading communication (ER 7.1). A lawyer may not state or imply being a certified specialist unless the lawyer meets Supreme Court Rule 44 (ER 7.1(b)); the bar says 'specialize' is allowed if true.
official source · rules v1.4.0 doi:10.5281/zenodo.23750572 · checked 2026-10-28
Paying for referralsP
primary source
ER 7.2 is reserved, so Arizona has no rule banning payment for a recommendation. The State Bar says lawyers may now pay referral fees to anyone, but cannot thank a referral source without the client's informed consent.
official source · rules v1.4.0 doi:10.5281/zenodo.23750572 · checked 2026-10-28
Call recordingP
primary source
Arizona makes it a felony to intercept a wire or electronic communication to which one is not a party without the consent of either the sender or the receiver, so one participant's consent suffices.
official source · rules v1.4.0 doi:10.5281/zenodo.23750572 · checked 2026-10-28
TextingP
primary source
A seller or solicitor may not make a solicitation call or send a solicitation text to a number on the national do-not-call registry. A violation is an unlawful practice under A.R.S.

Arizona: no filing or review of lawyer ads is required.

Paying for referralsP
primary source
Only two or more firms jointly working on a matter may divide a client's fee; the firms must tell the client in writing how the fee will be divided and how responsibility will be divided, and the division of responsibility must be reasonable.
