Disability ads reach people at a stage of a claim, not just on a topic. We run Google and Microsoft search ads sorted by application, denial and hearing, test Local Services ads where a fitting category exists, and use short video for the long middle of the process. We judge them by signed clients (claimants who signed with your firm), counted in your own records.

The channels

Channel Role Notes
Google and Microsoft search The main channel, by claim stage and language Ads open with your firm’s name and never look like the agency
Local Services Ads Only if a fitting category exists Check Google’s current category list first
YouTube and Meta video Plain explainers for the long wait Broad audiences only, no targeting by health
Display and remarketing Mostly off Sensitive health rules limit audiences; see below

What do Google and Meta limit for disability ads?

Three limits matter, and the next two sections cover the first two. Google, federal law and Meta each set limits that shape these ads: government services, agency approval and lead forms. Without Meta’s prior written permission, lead ad forms can’t ask about criminal or arrest history, bankruptcy or debt, health or disabilities, insurance details, or government ID numbers such as Social Security numbers. So a disability lead form asks only for a name and phone number, and screening happens on the call.

What does Google’s government-document policy mean for disability ads?

It limits ads that promise to get a person a government service. Since October 5, 2026, only governments and ‘authorized providers’ may run ads that promote getting a government document or service. To count as authorized, a government website must link to your domain and name you as authorized for that document or service. A law firm is not an agency, so we write ads that sell your legal help with a claim, not the benefit itself. Whether a given ad is caught is Google’s call, so we keep the wording on the side of representation.

What does federal law say about implying agency approval?

It is direct. Federal law bars items that create “the false impression that such item is approved, endorsed, or authorized by the Social Security Administration.” Ads, landing pages and videos all count. We never use the agency’s logo, seal or a lookalike color scheme, and every landing page states that your firm is private. This is not legal advice, and your attorney approves each ad.

How are the search ads organized?

By the stage the person is in, because each stage needs different words.

Stage Example search The ad says
First application help applying for disability benefits Legal help from the start of a claim
After a denial disability claim denied what now Help with a denied claim, with the appeal deadline on the page
Hearing coming up disability hearing lawyer Representation at the hearing
Spanish abogado de discapacidad cerca de mí A Spanish ad and page, answered in Spanish

Denial and hearing searches show the clearest need, so they get the first budget.

Which searches should disability ads block?

Block the searches that cannot become clients before they spend money. We apply a shared negative list on day one, read the search-terms report every week for the first month, and keep adding. A term that led to a signed client is never blocked.

Theme Example phrases Why it is blocked
Job seekers disability jobs; social security paralegal; disability advocate course The searcher wants work or school
Do it yourself and forms disability application form pdf; apply for disability online The searcher plans to apply alone
Free legal aid free disability legal aid; pro bono disability appeal Not a fit for a contingency firm
The agency and payments social security office near me; disability payment dates; social security phone number A benefit lookup, not a lawyer search
Wrong matter workers comp lawyer; long term disability insurance claim; SSI payment amount A claim your firm does not take
Wrong place states where you do not take claims Outside your area
Research disability definition; blue book listings; social security case law Study, not hiring

Where Local Services Ads are offered, they are usually the first test for local consumer matters. Search adds control of message and keywords, which matters for denial and hearing stages and for Spanish, so those go to search first. Google’s descriptions place workers’ comp, SSA claims, SSI and veterans’ disability under ‘Disability lawyer’; dog bites, product liability and wrongful death under ‘Personal injury lawyer’; and foreclosure and repossession under ‘Bankruptcy lawyer’. So a category exists, and we test it small.

Local Services rank on responsiveness: Google says missed calls may negatively affect your responsiveness. Invalid leads are disputed every week. Claimants often start with a question, so we judge it on signed clients. See Local Services ads.

Data sent to platforms, and audiences

Personal health content is a sensitive interest category. Google’s definition includes disabilities and invasive medical procedures. Ads that fall in it can’t use advertiser-curated audiences. So we build no audiences from your client list or from site visitors, and send no condition or diagnosis to any platform. Platforms receive a click ID, a neutral stage name and a time. Results are matched to signed clients in your records, not in the ad account.

How do we measure it?

The count is the signed client, recorded at the fee agreement. Because claims run for months, the early signal is a call from someone holding a denial notice with an appeal deadline, and a booked consultation counts only as an early signal. The monthly report shows each channel by claim stage and language, with the cost per signed client once a line has enough clients to read. The organic side is on disability SEO and AI search; the overview is on Social Security disability marketing. See also Google Ads, intake monitoring, signed-case reporting, Spanish, cost per signed case and state advertising rules.

What this means for your firm

  • Ads are organized by claim stage and never imitate the agency.
  • The long timeline is handled with an early signal, not by judging too soon.
  • Results are signed clients in your own records.

Questions firms ask

Can an ad say 'apply for disability here'?

We avoid it. That wording promotes getting a government service, which Google restricts, and it can look like the agency. Ads describe your legal help, such as help with a denied claim or a hearing, and name your firm in the first line.

Which searches do you keep out of the account?

Benefit check status, the agency's phone numbers and office hours, free forms, payment dates, and jobs. People typing those want the agency, not a lawyer. We review the search terms report weekly, and a term that led to a signed client is never blocked.

Do Local Services ads work for a disability firm?

Only if Google lists a category that fits your firm, and we check the list before any budget goes in. If the badge is available we test small, answer every call, and compare the signed clients against search ads.

Why does a claim that takes months matter for ad reports?

Because a click today may not sign for weeks, and a fee may come a year later. We report the signed client at the fee agreement, and use the denial notice call as the early signal so the account is not judged too soon.

Step 2 of 2. Where should we send the video for your site?

We use this to send your video and to reply to you.

We use what you send to reply and to send a few short follow-up emails (unsubscribe any time). To learn which of our ads work, we tell Google, Microsoft and Meta that a request came in, with the ad you clicked (if any) and a hashed copy of your email and phone (a code the platforms can still match to you), never your message. Never sold, never added to lists. Global Privacy Control or an email to us turns this off. By sending this form you agree to our privacy policy.
