Criminal defense marketing: the full picture
How we help criminal defense firms get chosen in search and AI answers and run ads that bring signed clients.
Criminal defense · Georgia
People search the night of an arrest or a stop, or a relative does it for them. Parts of Georgia, including Johnson County and Wilcox County, have no private law office at all. Below: Georgia’s ad rules for a criminal defense firm and the local figures behind them.
We would start with Search, because arrest-night searches are urgent, so search ads and a fast phone come first: $3,750 a month with managed ad spend up to $15k (every price).
We would point the first pages, map listings and ad locations at DeKalb County and Fulton County, which see the most deadly crashes with an alcohol-impaired driver, a rough map of where impaired-driving arrests cluster.
The closest case study: A legal-services launch cuts what each new client costs in half.
Criminal defense is a named sensitive category, so audience tools are limited and no ad should hint that the viewer is accused.
Georgia adds its own layer to the Google, Local Services and Meta criminal defense rules: ad filing is listed as no filing, and what every ad must show is listed as name plus contact details. The platform rules themselves are on the ads page and the policy tracker.
Start with the metro pages: Atlanta law firm SEO, AI search and Google Ads. Spanish-speaking demand and the full Georgia rules are on the Georgia rules page.
These are the court and statute rules that decide how fast intake must move and what a signed matter can be. Check current text with your own counsel.
30 of Georgia’s 159 counties have fewer than 1 private law office per 10,000 residents, and 16 have none (first quarter of 2026); 3.5% of residents live in a county under that line. What this means for a criminal defense firm in Georgia: In thin counties such as Johnson County, Wilcox County and Taylor County, families there search for a lawyer who will drive to the county courthouse, so name those courthouses on the site.

About 379,474 people in Georgia speak Spanish at home and English less than very well (±6,856), and about 1,223 lawyers, judges and judicial workers speak Spanish at home (±352). The ratio between the two is too uncertain to print for Georgia (ACS 2020-2024).
What this means for a criminal defense firm in Georgia: The Census sample is too thin to size the Spanish gap in Georgia, so a criminal defense firm should test Spanish pages and a Spanish line on a small budget and count the calls.

Georgia admitted 1,468 new lawyers in 2025, and 63.9% of the people who sat the bar exam that year passed. Admissions by exam or transferred score rose 9.7% from 2021 to 2025.
What this means for a criminal defense firm in Georgia: A steady flow of new lawyers in Georgia means new criminal defense competitors every year, many starting with a website and ads; a firm’s reviews and track record are the edge they lack.

Georgia had 7,025 private law offices in the first quarter of 2026, 6.22 for every 10,000 residents against 5.63 nationally: the 11th-highest rate of the 50 states and DC. The count was down 0.2% from a year earlier.
What this means for a criminal defense firm in Georgia: More offices per resident than the national rate means criminal defense searches in Georgia are crowded; being reachable at night, a clear page for each charge and fast callbacks decide who gets the call.

What these figures leave out: counts offices, not lawyers or legal aid; survey estimates with margins; judges are counted with lawyers; admissions, not lawyers who practice in the state; counts offices, not lawyers; BLS withholds some county figures. Corrections log.
Start with the call that comes late at night. Your intake script should ask for the charge, the court, the next date and whether the person is still in jail. Build pages for DUI, drug charges and first offender sentences, using Atlanta, Decatur, Marietta and Lawrenceville in the headings. Explain in plain words that finishing probation under the First Offender Act can end in discharge with no finding of guilt. Add a page for drivers under twenty-one, since Georgia sets a much lower alcohol level for them. Offer Spanish pages and a Spanish voicemail. Set up your Google profile with after-hours phone coverage. Georgia is a one-party consent state for recording, and we suggest a short notice anyway.
Months two and three are for counting. Record a signed client once per matter, from the firm's own file, and mark whether first contact was a call, a text or a form. Many callers are family members, so track those apart from the charged person. Cut broad pages on every crime, since a few pages on DUI, first offender and under-twenty-one cases give you a cleaner read. Cut any ad that pulls curiosity clicks from people with no pending case. Keep texting short and only to people who asked, because Georgia has no texting law beyond the federal one. Georgia has no comprehensive privacy law, so keep intake notes private and tidy on your own.
Not legal advice. Probative Growth is a marketing firm, not a law firm. Rules change; your attorney decides what runs.
