USCIS naturalization and green card applications, office by office

How many naturalization and green card applications each USCIS field office takes in, decides and still has waiting, quarter by quarter. We read the agency's own performance workbooks cell for cell, keep the cells USCIS withholds as suppressed, and tie the nationwide totals to USCIS's service-wide quarterly file.

What is in this dataset?

Applications to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services for naturalization (Form N-400, general and military) and for a green card by adjustment of status (Form I-485, family, employment, humanitarian and other), received, approved, denied and pending at every USCIS field office and service centre, for each fiscal quarter USCIS has published, with the nationwide totals. Read cell for cell from the agency's quarterly performance workbooks and tied to its service-wide quarterly totals. USCIS prints D where disclosure standards are not met; those cells are left empty and marked suppressed, never estimated.

Use it to see where naturalization and green card work is concentrated and where it waits: how many applications each USCIS office takes in, decides and has pending, and how the mix of family, employment and humanitarian green card cases differs by office. An immigration practice can compare the offices that serve its clients. Pair it with the legal-need and immigration-courts datasets by state. Agents can look up a state, compare up to ten states, or search an office by name.

The letters are explained in what P, S, D and U mean.

Where does the data come from?

Read from USCIS's quarterly N-400 and I-485 performance workbooks, kept cell for cell: D (disclosure standards not met) stays empty and marked suppressed. Offices are matched to states by the workbook's own state headings; the two service centres USCIS lists without a state are filed under US. A gate re-reads every office cell from the live workbooks, checks that offices plus suppressed cells add up to each workbook's total row, and ties the nationwide totals to USCIS's service-wide quarterly file.

Not legal advice. These are counts of applications that USCIS received and decided at each office, not the outcome of any one case or a prediction of one: a pending count says how many applications are waiting, not how long yours will wait or where it will be decided. Questions about an immigration case are for a licensed immigration attorney or an accredited representative.

What changed recently?

  • 2026-10-29 · N-400 and I-485 applications received, approved, denied and pending at every USCIS field office and service centre for 2 fiscal quarters, newest FY 2026 Q3, tied to USCIS's service-wide quarterly totals. (source)

What are the limits?

  • Counts are applications, not people or case outcomes. A pending count says how many applications are waiting at the end of the quarter, not how long any one will wait.
  • USCIS prints D where disclosure standards are not met. We keep each as suppressed and never estimate it; where an office's military or category cells are suppressed, its all-categories totals are still published.
  • The office is where the application is handled, not where the applicant lives, and an office's area is larger than its city. Most employment-based green card applications are decided at service centres, so field-office employment counts are small.
  • Applications decided in a quarter may have been received in an earlier one, and the pending count cannot be rebuilt by adding quarters: USCIS notes that transfers and administrative closures are not reflected.
  • The naturalization workbook's title row prints a date range that does not match the quarter in its file name; we use the quarter in the file name, which agrees with the dates in the green card and service-wide files.
  • Only the quarters USCIS currently lists are included, and USCIS can revise a past quarter's counts in later files.
  • Records older than 130 days since their last check are marked stale in the files until we re-check them. Every confirmed error we fix is listed in the data corrections log.
