Legal profession figures

7 figures a law firm uses to size its market, each re-read at the issuing agency's own source.

Checked October 31, 2026 · CC BY 4.0 · Not legal advice

What is in this dataset?

7 public figures a law firm uses to size its market: lawyer and paralegal jobs and pay from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and how much of low-income Americans' civil legal need goes without help from the Legal Services Corporation. Each row carries the series code or verbatim sentence from the issuing agency's own source and the date it was read.

Use it to cite a profession-size or legal-need figure with its primary source instead of a secondary article. Every figure was re-read at the issuing source on the date shown; check the source page for newer releases.

Where does the data come from?

Each figure was read at the issuing agency's own source (the Bureau of Labor Statistics through its Public Data API, the Legal Services Corporation on its page); the series code or sentence that carries it is stored verbatim, and a second script reads every source again and requires the figure to match.

What are the limits?

  • Each row names the source it was read at (5 sources) and the date; agencies revise their figures, so check the source for newer releases.
  • The quote column holds the words at the source that carry the figure, so a reader can find it.
  • The figures are national; they say nothing about one state, practice area or firm.
  • Records older than 130 days since their last check are marked stale in the files until we re-check them. Every confirmed error we fix is listed in the data corrections log.

Step 2 of 2. Where should we send the video for your site?

We use this to send your video and to reply to you.

We use what you send to reply and to send a few short follow-up emails (unsubscribe any time). To learn which of our ads work, we tell Google, Microsoft and Meta that a request came in, with the ad you clicked (if any) and a hashed copy of your email (a code the platforms can still match to you), never your message. Never sold, never added to lists. Global Privacy Control or an email to us turns this off. By sending this form you agree to our privacy policy.
